Budget-Friendly Potted Plant

I was out shopping one day and walked into a high-end furniture store and fell in love with an olive tree they had. It was sitting in a stylish coiled basket with gorgeous olive branches, BUT it was priced at $399. I knew I had to figure out a way to make this olive potted plant in a budget-friendly way! I spent less than $150 for this potted olive tree and it is one of my favorite greenery pieces in my home.

The basket is from Threshold at Target and cost around $29, which was the easy part of this budget-friendly potted plant to find. The hard part was finding a decently priced olive tree that was tall enough but also looked real. I searched and searched on Amazon for a while and came upon this 82″ Silk Olive Tree. Its just under $110 and looks super realistic. There are plump olives on a few branches, the actual trunk is distressed enough and colored perfect that it looks realistic, and there are just enough soft green silk leaves to give off a lush olive tree vibe.

The tree was a little too short for the look I was going for. I wanted it to be able to peep over the couch to fill the room better. This was easily fixed by putting a few books in the bottom of the basket to raise it above the couch! Now it is the perfect height and no one notices the books at the bottom.

As you can see, my cat, Gibby, loves sitting by this tree! He loves batting at the little olives on the branches! He must think this 82″ Silk Olive Tree looks realistic lol! This can be put anywhere in your home! It can be an accent piece off a sofa table, or simply put into the corner of a room!
