DIY Canvas Modern Art for Under $25

Even though my home decor style leans more towards modern farmhouse, I do love bold modern art pieces! While on Instagram one day, I came across an art piece that was perfect for my living room wall, the problem was, it was about $500! I knew I had to recreate this piece in a budget-friendly way. With these few easy steps, I was able to complete this project for only $25. I am going to be framing these canvas art pieces soon, so check back for a post on how to frame canvas art pieces!

Step 1: Figure out what size canvas you want for your wall. These here are 18×24. These canvases came from Amazon and are super budget-friendly. It comes in a six-pack for only $29, with each canvas for this project costing less than $10! You can buy canvas at Hobby Lobby as well, especially when they are having sales on art supplies!

Step 2: Buy acrylic paints and a paintbrush. For this art project, I chose a cream, white, and black color. These came from Amazon are only a few dollars each! I love using acrylic paints on canvas because it gives the art piece a great texture, both visually and by touch. A thicker paintbrush was just what I needed since I knew the design I wanted to do needed wide and thick brush strokes. I painted the black parts first, then outlined them in magnolia white, and then painted the rest of the canvas in cream color.

Step 3: Get creative! This does not look exactly like the one I had seen online, but it allowed me to be creative and put my own style on it.

This project was budget-friendly and took no time! Family and friends will be amazed at your canvas art, so get to bragging about your artistic skills! Check back in a few weeks to see how I frame these canvas art pieces with scrap wood pieces and some wood stain.
