One of the items I had on my “honey to-d0 list” before my son was born was to get these sconces hardwired into the entryway. I knew we would need some extra light as we stumbled downstairs in our new parent exhaustion to warm up a bottle! A few electricians came and gave estimates of around $400! I knew there had to be a budget-friendly way to get this done. In just a few easy steps, I was able to get these sconces working in a “not” hardwired way and for under $25!
Step 1: Buy Puck Lights from Amazon |
The puck lights are a great way to get the light I needed in these sconces! The ones on Amazon are used by putting batteries in them. The batteries last a few weeks if you keep the light on all the time. We chose to use rechargeable batteries that we already had to save money in replacing batteries each month. You can buy some here! These puck lights are also cool because they change colors too! We had them set to orange for Halloween and my husband insists on making them purple for Vikings games!
Step 2: Gorilla Tape from Amazon |
The next step is to simply put some Gorilla Tape on the puck light and pop it into each sconce. Gorilla tape is so strong that these bad boys will not fall out of the sconces! If you need to replace a battery, the puck light screws off easily without having to remove the whole puck light from the sconce.
Step 3: Screw Sconces into Wall |
Since we are not really hardwiring the sconce in, you can easily just screw them into the wall!
This easy and budget-friendly “not” hardwired lighting is a great weekend project! It takes less than 30 minutes and less than $25!
