How to Style an Electric Fireplace

Spaces Weekly Digest Pinterest Graphic

A lot of homes and apartments do not have fireplaces installed, but that does not mean that they cannot have a fireplace! Electric fireplaces are a great way to get that cozy fireplace vibe without the hassle of cleaning. In our front living room, we wanted a more cozy vibe since a lot of our friends and family sit in that room to chat. There are many ways to style around an electric fireplace and get that modern farmhouse feel. Check back in a few months as I add some built-in bookshelves around the fireplace for another way to style around an electric fireplace. But for now, the few things I focused on in this area were woods, greenery, and books of course!

1. Freestanding Electric Fireplace and the trim around the paneling | The freestanding electric fireplace we have is from Home Depot but looks similar to this one from Amazon. It works as easily as clicking the power button on the remote. If you check out the fireplace from Home Depot, it has a fake multicolor brick surrounding it which I was not a big fan of. I went to Target and grabbed some floral, neutral tone peel and stick wallpaper and put it around the fireplace! Super easy and enhances the look of this fireplace in the space.

2. Books and an oversized chair | If you check out my post on How to use books as modern farmhouse decor you will see that I love using books as modern farmhouse decor pieces. In this space, I used them twice! Both as just simple stacks of books faced with pages outwards. When I think of a fireplace, I think of books and oversized comfy chairs, so this oversized chair fits perfectly with that vibe! I am all about neutral tones so the beige color works great with the greens, and woods, and whites.

3. All the greens | In my opinion, all spaces need greens! In this space, I mixed some fake and real greens. The soft green in these eucalyptus ears are my go-to and can be found at Hobby Lobby. The large vase has some greens leftover from my wedding that was dried.

4. Framed poster photo collage | Go check out my blog post DIY Poster Size Photo Collage to see how I made these super budget-friendly statement pieces! The wall would not be the same without them.

5. The little details | Make the space yours, filled with the tiny details you love! I found these wooden framed floral pieces from Magnolia a few years back which looked great here. The chippy white drawer was found at an antique store which looks great filled with greens! Personally, I love adding candles to every room in my house so each room smells great! The gold mirror from Amazon looks great here too. Try adding items with different heights, shapes, and textures to create a great electric fireplace mantel!

Stay tuned for an updated post on my front living room! My rooms are always changing as my style and creativity change!
