Sometimes looking through Pinterest and Instagram can show us a version of real life, especially when it comes to home decor and styling of peoples’ homes. I was so excited to come up with this design idea for storing my son’s toys but wanted to wait until the area was absolutely perfect before writing up this blog. But truth is, styling areas while on a budget can take time and the organization in this area needs to be put out there for people like you to be inspired by! In the near future I will write up another blog with the area completed, but here it is, the real and raw of this space in my home.
Organizing this area was pretty simple and straightforward. Clutter stresses me out and I knew that having children would mean lots of toys everywhere! These are similar to the storage cubes I used in my post on Organizing Small Nursery Closet Spaces. I bought two of them from Target and adhered them together. Then, I purchased some baskets from Menards, but you can find similar ones at Amazon like these. All of these baskets will one day be filled with blocks and Legos and can easily be picked up and put away.
When it came to figuring out how to style around this storage unit I had to make sure it was kid-friendly with the least amount of breakable things, since children can be rambunctious sometimes! I added an old metal iron I found at an antique store as a bookstand with some books. Check out my post How to Use Books as Modern Farmhouse Decor to see other ways to style books around the house! I also added some greenery because no space comes to life without some greenery! Our big missing piece is the television! We have the wall mount set up for it but are not quite sure what size television to add yet and that will come with time. Once it is finished, this playroom will look great! Check back for an additional post once the space is completed!
